The whole town gathers on Kauppakatu to celebrate a joyful summer evening. There will be music, delicious food, fun finds, and plenty of familiar faces. For the duration of the event, Kauppakatu becomes a pedestrian street, and stalls filled with all sorts of fun things pop up along the street. You won’t go hungry, as Kauppakatu offers a wide variety of food vendors in addition to the street’s restaurants.
During the Summer Street Night, be sure to stop by the Family House (Kauppakatu 32), where you can play from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
There will be plenty of tail-wagging dogs on hand when the Finnish Kennel Club’s Companion and Reading Dogs are awarded starting at 5:30 p.m. on the stage at Zalaegerszeg Square.
The cheerful and colorful Vekara Parade will delight the Summer Street crowd with its march. The parade departs from the library courtyard at 6:00 p.m. and brings a joyful atmosphere, music, and entertainment all along the street.
Children’s favorites, musician Mimi and the funny clown lion Kuku, will perform on stage at 6:30 p.m. Mimi’s and Kuku’s energetic, highly entertaining performance features a cheerful, fast-paced vibe, lots of dancing, activities, puppet theater, and magic tricks. The show lasts approximately 45 minutes.
Magician Sami will also be performing close-up magic among the audience from 6:30–7:30 p.m.
