Vekara-Varkaus is a children’s festival week where the whole family can participate in fun activities together. The community-based festival week, built by the whole town, is being celebrated this year for the 30th time in Varkaus and its surrounding municipalities.
Vekara-Varkaus Festival Week offers around 100 different types of programme content. This summer’s theme is CELEBRATION, because the 30th edition of the summer event that brings together the whole of Varkaus, the golden jewel of children’s culture, is worth celebrating!
We have invited Soili Perkiö, a long-standing children’s culture influencer, children’s music author and music educator, to be our festival-godmother. Songs composed and written by Soili can be heard at various events throughout the week. In workshops led by Soili, children will have the chance to create music themselves. So the festival week is also a celebration of children’s music!
